Explosion in Guinea

A huge explosion occurred at the main oil terminal in Guinea's capital Conakry on 18 December. Reports from the area are saying there have been at least eight casualties, dozens wounded, damage to nearby homes and many people have been forced to flee the area.

The explosion was caused by a fire which broke out at around midnight local time, and was still raging hours later. It is unclear what started the blaze.

Authorities have ordered schools in the city to close and urged workers to stay at home, there are also concerns over a potential fuel shortage.
