Description of Event

The Belgian civil protection activated the Charter on January 21, 2002 following the eruption of Mount Nyiragongo, which has destroyed a part of Goma city. Earthquakes also have been felt up to Rwanda and have reached 4.7 to 4.8 degrees of magnitude on the Richter scale.
