Description of Event

Tropical cyclone SIDR hit a dozen coastal districts in the Bay of Bengal. Thousands of families have been evacuated from their homes.

Moist areas highlighted in blue show the possible extent flooding due to storm surge in the region of Jalakhati. Information was visually interpreted from Spot-4 NIR and SWIR data; IKONOS data is used as a backdrop.

Possible extent of the storm surge in the region southwest of the town Barisal. Moist areas and water surfaces have been extracted from SPOT4 and TerraSAR-X data from Nov 18 and 19, 2007.
