Description of Event

The fire, which began in a mountainous area on 27 July, has destroyed around 10,000 hectares of land on Gran Canaria and around 14,000 hectares on Tenerife. More than 13,000 people have been evacuated from centres on the two islands, both popular tourist destinations.
