About The Charter
The International Charter aims at providing a unified system of space data acquisition and delivery to those affected by natural or man-made disasters through Authorized Users. Each member agency has committed resources to support the provisions of the Charter and thus is helping to mitigate the effects of disasters on human life and property.

Earthquake in China
12/05/2008
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck eastern Sichuan, northwest of Chengdu, at 06:28 UTC, 02:28 local time. By 12 May Chinese authorities reported 9,219 dead in Sichuan province and 3,000 to 5,000 dead in Beichuan County, with extensive damage in Mianyang, Chonqing, Wuhan, and Dujiangyan. The tremor was felt throughout the region.

Myanmar disaster acquisitions Charter members supply imagery in support of Myanmar relief operations

Charter members are making exceptional efforts to supply imagery in support of Myanmar relief operations: USGS and ESA have doubled their efforts to aid in evaluating of the disaster and get data into the hands of rescue teams in Myanmar.
